Dog Control in Public Places
All Members that frequent the Club are reminded of your responsibilities under the Dog Control Act 1996 and Auckland Council Rules. Mission Bay Tennis Club and the surrounding property and pathways are not designated off-leash areas and hence dog owners are reminded to adhere to the following please:
"The Dog Control Act 1996, requires dog owners to keep their dogs under control at all times. You need to make sure that your dog does not cause a nuisance (barking or fouling); cause damage to property; injure, endanger or cause distress to any person, livestock, poultry or domestic animal, or protected wildlife."
Control your Dog in Public and around other People
The Auckland Council Rules states that in Auckland, dogs must be on a leash at all times in council-controlled public places unless stated otherwise in local area rules.
There are exceptions, such as designated off-leash areas where signs indicate dogs are allowed, provided owners follow the conditions for entry.
What some see as playful but harmless behaviour, others may see as out of control behaviour. If your dog jumps on someone, some people might not mind but others might get frightened. As a dog owner, you need to ensure your dog does not cause anyone distress.

Constitution Update
A sub-committee has been working on a revised club constitution to ensure we meet the requirements of the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022.
The current constitution, like many older club documents, does not comply with the updated legislation, which all incorporated societies must adhere to by April 2026.
Once the draft has been reviewed by the Committee, it will be shared with all members well in advance of the AGM to allow time for feedback and discussion.
Our goal is to adopt the new constitution at this year’s AGM to keep the club compliant and up to date.
