COMMITTEE INTEREST?

Our Club is run by a small, committed Committee, and a number of those members have been giving their time for many years.

As we look ahead, it’s important we start thinking about succession and bringing some fresh perspectives into the mix. Being on the Committee is a great way to help shape the future of the Club, contribute ideas, and support the tennis community we all enjoy. You do not need to be a tennis expert or commit endless hours.

If you’re interested, curious, or would just like to learn more about what’s involved, we’d love to hear from you.

Keen to get involved?

We’re gathering a small crew of volunteers to help our Weekend Tournaments throughout the Annual Event Calendar run smoothly. It’s an easy day’s help — simple tasks, friendly crew, no special skills needed.

STRATEGIC PLAN

During 2025 a committed team of volunteers prepared and published the Club's Strategic Plan.

This activity was performed to update the previous Strategic Plan which was last produced in 2006.

A digital version of the Strategic Plan is now available to view on our website at: https://missionbaytennis.co.nz/strategic-plan/ and a paper version is also displayed on our noticeboards.

An overview of the Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Pillars is also shown below.

MAINTENANCE UPDATES - Pro Shop - Deck Membrane Repairs

The deck waterproofing has now been completed, with only the final flashings remaining to be installed. Once this is done, the exterior cladding will be replaced, followed by the internal fit-out downstairs.

We expect all work to be completed by 10th April, or early the following week.

MIDWEEK LADIES

Join us every Thursday from 9am for Midweek Ladies Tennis. Enjoy a fun and social morning on court, with a variety of formats to suit all levels and keep things fresh each week. Open to all members at no charge.

We wrap up with coffee at 11am - the perfect chance to relax and connect afterwards.

WHATSAPP COMMUNICATIONS

Members are invited to join our MBTC Club Hub Community on WhatsApp where you can receive timely notifications about our major Events and you can also join any specific WhatsApp Groups that are relevant to you including for Club Social Nights, Social Singles, Wednesday Mornings, Midweek Ladies, Everything Juniors, Social Padel, Volunteers and Everything Coaching.

2. Events

2026 MAJOR ANNUAL EVENTS

Please note, there has been a few updates again to the dates on our Annual Event Calendar for 2026 to accommodate the confirmed date for Love Tennis on Sunday 13th September (instead of Sunday 6th September which was the date aligned with 2025) AND a potential M-Bay Tournament TBC on the weekend of 16th-17th May (between Mission Bay and Mairangi Bay)

Please review the revised Major Event Calendar on our website accordingly and save the dates, whilst noting that the dates and events may be subject to change.

Please also refer to our Website for the Detailed Annual Events Calendar which includes important dates for Interclub. Event Details and Registration Forms (where applicable) will also be updated on our Website, Social Media and Newsletters throughout the year.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Please Register accordingly for our Events and Tournaments using the links below:

Junior Club Championships - Singles - Sunday 19th April - All Junior Interclub players are encouraged to play.

Parent - Child Tournament - Doubles - Sunday 3rd May - Adult Parent- Adult Child partners also welcome and encouraged, similar to last year.

Winter Interclub - Registration Closes Sunday 3rd May - Info Evening -15th April 6pm

Calimero Challenge - Tuesday Nights in May - We are changing things up to make this more competitive for every level, so please register and watch this space!

M-BAYS Tournament - Saturday 16th May or Sunday 17th May TBC - This will likely be a graded Doubles Event, with Mixed, Men's and Women's fast format matches similar to the Parnell v Mission Bay event.

3. Recent Events

WORLD TENNIS DAY CLUB SOCIAL NIGHT

On Wednesday 4th March, Mission Bay Tennis Club celebrated World Tennis Day.

World Tennis Day was first launched in 2013 to mark 100 years of the ITF, the day celebrates getting people on court and enjoying the game.

Members celebrated by wearing their home country colours or one they love and by hanging up their flag on our Unity Net.

We had representation from China, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Japan, Samoa, South Africa, USA, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, France, Ireland, Germany, UK, Ukraine, Estonia, Russia, Turkey, Australia, and New Zealand.

We love being part of the Global spirit at Mission Bay!

ST PATRICK'S DAY CLUB SOCIAL NIGHT

On Wednesday 18th March, we hosted our St Patrick's Day Club Social Night.

Members wore Green and enjoyed the luck of the Irish and a Guiness or two!

Thanks everyone for spreading the luck!

JUNIOR 'BRING A FRIEND' SERIES CLUB NIGHTS

On Friday 13th and 20th of March our Juniors participated in the 'Bring a Friend' series.

We welcomed Junior players of all ages and abilities to have a social hit of Tennis and other Club House games such as Ping Pong, Darts and Corn-Hole and as always, Calimero Pizza and Sumthin' Dumplin'.

Thanks to everyone that joined in the fun, the Coaches and the Parent volunteers that helped to make this happen.

SENIOR SINGLES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Senior Singles Club Championships were held over Sunday 22nd March, Sunday 29th March (Finals) and Thursday 2nd April (Women's Finals).

Thank you to everyone who participated and also to the volunteers that helped to make a spectacular few days of Tennis.

EASTER CLUB SOCIAL NIGHT

On Wednesday 1st April we hosted our Easter Club Social Night. Members were invited to wear Bunny Ears and bring Chocolate Easter Egss to share.

Tuscan Oguz and Olivia Stewart looked so cute we couldn't help but to take a cheeky snap!

4. Interclub

SENIOR, JUNIOR, MIDWEEK & TWILIGHT INTERCLUB

We're down to the last weekend of Interclub this weekend.

This season we had a record number of Teams playing across the Pre-Xmas and Post-Xmas Interclub Competitions in Juniors, Seniors and Twilight and we've had some amazing results.

Congratulations to everyone that participated in an awesome summer season and also congratulations to all of the Teams that made it into the Top 3 of their Competitions.

Please see the current standings across all Competitions below, noting that some Results may still take a few weeks to be finalised.

We're looking forward to welcoming Seniors to the Winter Interclub seasons and everyone back for the Summer Interclub season later in the year.

Please note, Coaching and other Tournaments will continue over the Winter so there will always be plenty of opportunities to pick up a racquet! We look forward to seeing you on the Courts over Winter.

Captains and Managers - Please return all of your used Interclub Balls to the Club ASAP.

Balls are one of the Clubs biggest expenses and we require these for our Wednesday Club Nights and Sunday Social Singles. Please drop them off in the Box in the Downstairs area clearly marked as Used Interclub Balls.

5. Coaching

COACHING PROGRAMMES

Tennis One will be hosting their regular Junior Holiday Program - April Tennis Camps during the Term 1 - 2 Holidays. Make sure to sign up ASAP to secure your Juniors spot.

6. External Events

Entries to The Tennis Auckland Indoor Competitions are currently Open with entries closing on Monday 6th April. Please refer to Tennis Auckland Compete Menu for more information and registration.

For Members of Tennis Masters Auckland, if you are looking for some Tournaments to enter over upcoming long weekends:

The Auckland Masters ANZAC Tournament 2026 will be held at Merton Road from Saturday 25th April to Monday 27th April with Doubles and Mixed event and

The Barfoot & Thompson Kings Birthday Masters Tournament 2026 will be held at Otumoetai Tennis Club on Saturday 30 May Doubles and Sunday 31st May Mixed.
