It’s been another busy and enjoyable few weeks around the club, with strong turnout across tournaments, events, and social tennis. A big thank you to everyone who continues to contribute and help make MBTC such a great club both on and off the court.

From upcoming events to recent results and club updates, there’s plenty happening around the club - take a read below to see what’s been going on and what’s coming up.

FRENCH OPEN CLUB NIGHT

This Wednesday at Club Night we will be celebrating the French Open. Come along and enjoy an evening of French music, ham and cheese croissants, and bubbles. Register as normal via ClubSpark, and even if you’re not playing, feel free to come along and enjoy the atmosphere from the clubhouse.

Pre-orders for croissants and bubbles will be taken through the Club Night WhatsApp group, so please make sure you’ve joined the group to place your order.

PRO SHOP RE-OPENING & MBTC MERCH LAUNCH

Works to the waterproofing above the pro shop and the subsequent remediation works beneath have now been completed. To celebrate, we’ll be holding a special opening night in the coming weeks, alongside the launch of our new MBTC merchandise range. Keep an eye out for more details soon. (we hope to replace the remainder of the deck in due course).

WINTER INTERCLUB


We’re excited to have 9 Mission Bay teams entered into this year’s Winter Interclub competition, with matches starting next Sunday - 7th June. It’s fantastic to see so many members representing the club across all grades, and we wish all teams the very best for the season ahead.

CALIMERO CHALLENGE

We were thrilled to have a huge number of entrants in this year’s Calimero Challenge, with plenty of close battles and great tennis across all four weeks.

A big thank you to Jeremy and Talita from Calimero for sponsoring the event and providing pizzas and snacks throughout the competition. Thanks also to Sumthin Dumplin Mission Bay for supplying dumplings during Week 2.

Thank you also to all the volunteers who helped organise the event each week.

JUNIOR SINGLES CLUB CHAMPS

Congratulations to all players who took part in this year’s Junior Singles Club Championships. Thankfully the weather held off, making for a fantastic day of tennis across all grades.

Special congratulations to Ridley Huang for winning (U18 Boys), Alisha West for winning (U14 Girls) and Ashton West for winning (U12 Boys). Well done to all our runner ups and plate winners!

Special thanks to Amy Crichton and everyone who helped organise the day.

THE AMIGOS CUP 1ST YEAR CELEBRATION


The Amigos Cup recently celebrated its first year, with up to 24 players regularly taking part in weekly social singles tennis. The occasion was celebrated with a potluck dinner and drinks after another great afternoon on court. New players are always welcome via the Amigos Cup WhatsApp group.

PARENT CHILD TOURNAMENT

The Parent & Child Tournament was another fantastic day of tennis, with plenty of close matches, great laughs, and strong club spirit throughout the event.

The West family dominated the results, taking out both first and second place, while Liam & Shirley won the Plate event. Special awards were also handed out for Best Team Spirit, Best Celebration, and Best Dressed Team.

A big thank you to New World Eastridge for their support towards food on the day, and to Calimero for donating pizza vouchers as prizes. Thanks also to everyone who helped make the event such a success.


MAIRANGI BAY VS MISSION BAY

24-a-side Club vs Club event. Played on a beautiful autumn day, the event featured plenty of great tennis, close matches, and excellent club spirit from both teams.

Congratulations to the Mission Bay team for narrowly taking home the cup after a closely fought contest. Events like these are always a great way to bring clubs together both on and off the court.

Our next Club vs Club event is against Parnell Tennis Club on Sunday 14 June. If you would like to be part of the team and help Mission Bay bring back the cup, it’s not too late to sign up - simply send us an email to register your interest.

COACHING

Tennis One’s Mix Tour Series continues next Saturday night - 6th June - with Vol. 5 of the competition. The event is a relaxed mixed doubles evening with rotating partners and opponents, it's a great way to meet other players and enjoy some social tennis.
