END OF YEAR MESSAGE - AND MANY REASONS TO CELEBRATE!

As we start December and step into the festive season and the holidays, we would like to take a moment to thank each of you for being part of the Mission Bay Tennis Club community.

Your energy, support, and passion for tennis have made this year truly special.

We are very proud to share that our collective efforts have been recognised, not only by Tennis Auckland but also now nationally by Tennis New Zealand!

It is with great pleasure that we announce that Mission Bay Tennis Club has been awarded the following awards for 2025!

🏆 TENNIS NZ CLUB OF THE YEAR - This is the first time in the Club's history that we have won this auspicious accolade.

🥈 Tennis NZ Runner-up for Love Tennis Club of the Year - Auckland Love Tennis Club of the Year for the 2nd Year Running!

🥈Tennis NZ Runner-up for Digital Engagement

These achievements reflect the spirit, commitment, and camaraderie that make our club unique.

With the festive season upon us, we wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. May this time be filled with joy, rest, and celebration.

No doubt, we will need to plan another Awards Celebration where we’ll honour these milestones together.

Meanwhile, we look forward to seeing you at one of our Christmas Parties, where we can exchange Secret Santa gifts and toast to an exciting year ahead.

THANK YOU - MILESTONE FOUNDATION

Thank you to Milestone Foundation for recently awarding Mission Bay Tennis Club with a Grant of $12,886 towards our Affiliation Fees, Insurance Costs and purchasing a new Grooming Drag Mat for our Courts.

Milestone Foundation Limited was established in September 2015 to support our local communities.

GROOMING DRAG-MAT

A portion of the Milestone Foundation grant has been purposed for a second grooming drag mat at the Club. Now each block of Courts now has its own grooming mat.

These are permanently on Court for members to use and are great to spread the sand evenly before you start your session of tennis, especially if we have had rain and the sand has pooled in areas.

NEW ACCESS CODE FOR DOWNSTAIRS FACILITIES

We’re pleased to let you know that Members can now access the Downstairs Bathrooms, AED, and Water Fountain outside of their Court Booking times using the generic access code 776858.

Please be aware that this code may be updated annually, so keep an eye out for any future communications regarding changes.

Please also note that when you Book a Court, the PIN for your Booking enables you to access downstairs of the Club House should you require the facilities.

Interclub Team Captains and Managers have also been provided with instructions to access the Courts and Club House accordingly so that you should still be able to access all of the facilities when you need.

MEMBER UPDATES:

Theo Feschiev

Good luck to Theo Feschiev who is headed off to Christchurch this week for the Tennis New Zealand - Xtreme Productivity Junior National Championships.

Theo has been working incredibly hard with a target of reaching Top #1 in NZ for his age group He started the year as #39 and has recently reached Top #5 in NZ for Boys 11 Under.

Congratulations Theo and we're looking forward to your continued success!

Ridley Huang

Congratulations to Ridley Huang who was invited to the Tennis New Zealand - Xtreme Productivity Junior Masters and competed in the Boys 16 Under category, held in Wellington over the Labour Day long weekend in October. Just eight Boys and Girls in each age group (12U, 14U, 16U) were invited to compete.

Although he didn't come out victorious, he is extremely proud to be invited and the opportunity to play in this prestigious tournament.

Well done to all of our up-and-coming Junior Members! We're looking forward to seeing you progress on the national stage.

Have you planned your work or even family and friends X'mas Party? The Club House and Courts are available for hire!

We have already taken a few X'mas Party bookings, but there are still plenty of opportunities to host your party at the best Club in Auckland!

However, we were too excited about the news of our Tennis NZ Awards that we've released this Newsletter early, so we will share the offer ASAP!

Post-Xmas Junior Interclub Registration

Entries for Post-Xmas Junior Interclub are Open with Team submissions due to Tennis Auckland by Sunday 16th December.

Unless advised otherwise, we will assume that all current Pre-Xmas Junior Interclub players would like to play in the Post-Xmas Junior Interclub competition, however we would also like to offer the opportunity for new players and changes for any current players.

Please refer to the following Post-Xmas Junior Interclub Registration Form to be completed ASAP and latest by Wednesday 10th December for all Juniors that are interested to play.

3. Recent Events

SENIOR DOUBLES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

Our annual Senior Doubles Club Champs were held on Sunday 23rd November - Mixed and Sunday 30th November - Men's and Women's.

Thank you to everyone who has participated so far and congratulations to our Champions, Runners Up and Plate Winners.

We were fortunate to have spectacular weather for the Mixed event, however due to afternoon showers for the Men's and Women's event the majority of finals have been rescheduled to this coming Sunday 7th December 2pm. We will release the full details of the remaining matches via Social Media ASAP.

Members and Guests are warmly invited again to spectate, socialise, and support all teams playing on Sunday 7th. It's going to be another great day of Tennis.

FUNDRAISER - TE REO LOVE TENNIS HOODIE

Congratulations to one of our newest Members, Olivia Stewart who won both our recent Love Tennis Social Media competition, receiving a Love Tennis Water Bottle and limited-edition Love Tennis at Mission Bay T'Shirt AND the Te Reo Love Tennis Hoodie Raffle drawn on Sunday.

We think she was a deserving winner and looks great in the Hoodie!

Thank you to everyone that bought tickets and helped us to fundraise ~$300!

4. Interclub

SENIOR & JUNIOR INTERCLUB

Interclub has been in full swing across all competition categories. This year, Mission Bay has a recent record number of 27 Interclub Teams across all competition categories:

• 14 Senior Saturday Teams including 2 x Open Women's, 2 x Open Presidents and 1 x Super Men's Teams - All a first for a number of years

• 4 Twilight Teams - All a first, maybe ever!

• 8 Junior Teams including a Premier Boys Team - Another first in who knows how long!

• 1 Midweek Ladies Team

Thank you and congratulations to all of our Teams that have been competing each week.

We invite all Interclub Team Captains and Team Members to share photos from their competitions to share in upcoming Newsletters and on Socials.

INTERCLUB DRAWS FOR ALL MBTC TEAMS

Please note, you can now view the Interclub Draws for every MBTC Team Competition on our Website, under Events Calendar: Interclub Calendar (best viewed on your Desktop Browser to scroll or filter).

Please also note again, whether you are playing Home or Away, all Interclub Teams that play each week are invited to the Club after their Match for a complimentary post-match drink for each playing Team Member!
