Doubles Club Champs
Our Club Champs Doubles were held on Sunday, 29 October 2023 and mixed on 12 November 2023 which saw some exciting tennis.
|
What a great atmosphere at the club - the sun was out for a change, great toasties and snacks were on offer and the balcony was full of supporters enjoying a beverage while watching some great tennis - what more could you ask for!
|
There were some extremely competitive matches, which could have gone either way. Congratulations to all participants who entered!

The format of the event was changed this year which meant all matches were played on one day instead of across 2 weekends. We may look to keep this format for next year, but we would love to hear your feedback on how you found the event; info@missionbaytennis.co.nz

Junior/Parent Tournament this coming SUNDAY
If you haven't already, please register your interest (you can just turn up on the day) by e-mailing Jan so we can cater for numbers and abilities.
|
We will be having round robins according to team abilities, there will be fun prizes on the day and a sausage sizzle. We encourage all of you with a keen junior to sign up. All abilities are welcome, and we have some spare seniors if needed (but these need to be organised in advance).
|
Come down at 12:30pm for a start time of 1pm. Keep an eye on social media for rain cancellations.

Junior Interclub Post Xmas - Term 1
Interclub is great fun for the juniors and a fantastic way to improve their game. If you are not sure if your child is at interclub level, please reach out via email.
|
Entries for Junior Post /Xmas Interclub are due by December 10th, and the season is due to start 10/11 February 2024.
|
Coaching will be arranged for all junior interclub players with days/times organised once teams are confirmed.

National Masters Tournament 27th-31st Jan
If you have been keeping up to date with our social media posts, you will know that Mission Bay Tennis Club is one of the 5 host clubs for the 2024 National Tennis Masters Tournament.
|
This is run from Sat 27th Jan to Wed 31st Jan. There will be some fabulous tennis viewing over this time and we welcome everyone to come and watch the tennis at any time. Full details are below if you have an interest in participating in the tournament.

Volunteers Needed
In order for this tournament to be successful we do need volunteers. PLEASE let us know if you can help in any way, no matter how big or how small. Without your help a few of us are going to be kept very busy over this time. Following are a few roles we need help with:

Sub-committee - we need some helpers to make sure we can plan everything in advance to run a successful tournament.
|
|
Day Helpers - help out on the day by giving instructions to participants, loading results etc.
|
|
Food Preparation - help get our food ready to sell
|
Food Sales & Bar duty so we can sell rolls/slices/ etc to sell to participants.
Photography - come down at a few key times over the course of the tournament to take some pics.
|
Grounds/Maintenance - help get the club ready to look fantastic - list on noticeboard in clubroom
|

The MBTC clubhouse is available to hire for private functions (corporates/ 50ths / wedding anniversaries etc) Full kitchen, bar and bar staff with deck bathed in early evening sun overlooking Mission Bay Tennis Courts.

Officiating Course - Tennis NZ
There is an upcoming Officiating course being offered by New Zealand Umpires Association, with the theory work completed on Saturday 25 November 9am - 1pm, and the practical component being either Saturday 25 November afternoon, or Sunday 26 November.
|
The course will be run at Merton Road Tennis Centre and will cost $50/person to complete.
|

Tennis Auckland run tournaments every school holiday period and various weekends throughout the year, and we are always looking for more help in this space.

Important Club Reminders & Information
If you are last to leave the club and are not certain of the procedure there is now an instruction sheet on the bar and noticeboard.
|
If you are leaving the club and there is no-one around please close the downstairs sliding door.
|
NEW: If you have started a bar tab please pay it at the end of the day or evening. This saves Jeremy extra hours of his time creating and sending out invoices. There will now be a small processing fee of $3 charge added to all bar tabs that need to be invoiced out to cover additional processing charges and time.
|
